A will to give: Leaving a legacy through planned giving

A will to give: Leaving a legacy through planned giving
A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit in.

This Greek proverb is one of my all-time favorites. It beautifully summarizes the blessing of preserving for the future what we hold dearly in our hearts today.

Members of the NWTF have a passion for what they do and believe in. They desire to pass it on for generations to come. Maybe it's mentoring youth hunts. Maybe it's an outreach program benefiting people with disabilities. Maybe it's conserving land. Or maybe, it's ensuring our habitat is healthy and able to nurture wildlife.

Because these passions stir deeply in our soul, people are compelled to make a difference and often make generous gifts to the NWTF, because we specialize in putting money on the ground every day.

You, too, may leave your legacy and help us achieve our mission for years to come through Planned Giving. One of the simplest ways to give through Planned Giving is by including the NWTF in your will.

Tim and Susie Geppert of San Antonio, Texas, have made that commitment. Tim and Susie joined the organization in 1986, and over the years, their love and passion for conservation and hunting has driven their lives.

After joining the NWTF, they started hunting together. Since then, they have been blessed with many great hunts across the globe. They taught themselves how to hunt at first, but they also learned from the NWTF's magazines and by attending the annual convention and sport show. Now, hunting has become their lifestyle.

Tim and Susie don't take for granted the blessings of wildlife and habitat. Their love for the outdoors and God's creatures instilled within them a desire to pass it on. That's why they took the needed steps to ensure this would come to fruition.

They met with their attorney and amended their will to include the NWTF as a beneficiary to a percentage of their estate. That's all it took. A simple, inexpensive process to deliver the blessings of their passion for years to come.

Have you considered including the NWTF in your will? Do you have questions regarding Planned Giving that will help us fulfill our mission for future generations? If so, we'd be honored to talk with you. There are many ways we can customize a personal plan to fit your wishes. Please contact us for the legal wording and designations you will need. Join us and leave your own legacy. The next generation depends on us. - Butch Faulkner, NWTF director of development
